Cheers to Gloomy Days!

10 03 2009

We are really glad that the rain comming down for the past few days isn’t snow. However, it sure is gloomy out there. If your’e feeling like you don’t want to go out, think about the folks you know that are shut in, ill or maybe feeling a bit blue.

May I recommend the gift of flowers? You and I both know what happens to your attitude when you see a tulip. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen tulips” commented a customer when scanning the cooler, and of course then there was a smile.

Tulips aren’t the only thing that would do the trick to cheer someone or give them hope for spring. Our cooler is full of color, scent, and spring flowers. Daffodills, iris, daisies, are in stock and on a good day I might even bring in some french pussy willows from my yard. If that doesn’t say spring or cheer up, I don’t know what will!

You know what, you don’t even have to go out in this weather to spread your cheer, just call us or go to our website: http://www.bouquetsonwater.com We will deliver for you, and fast. Yes, we do same day deliveries.

Cheers to gloomy days!!

White snow, White flowers

2 03 2009

Snowing ! Really ? Snow, again ?
Just when everyone is waiting for spring and all it’s wonderful color. I guess we’ll just have to wait. I thought I’d take this opportunity to rejoice in the splendor of white flowers ! Really, I think they smell the best. They just seem to have more fragrance than the majority of other colors. I had an old gardener friend who ascribed to the theory that ” God put more fragrance in the white flowers to help the insects find them”, helping of course with pollination.

I’m all for the fragrance for example :

Gardenias only come in white, so heavenly,

White carnations are one of the few colors that still smell like cloves,

Freesia, oh my, a peppery sweet smell is yours to enjoy,

Steffanotis, that little white flower you see in the brides bouquet… smells like those wax lips candy you had as a kid,… I could go on.

Florists really do think about all this stuff, that’s part of the passion of being a florist. Also, we should consider that one can appreciate the form of a white flower so much more clearly. There are no eye popping or even subtle colors to distract you from the plain beauty of the shape. For all these reasons I’d truly like to have all white flowers on my casket when I go, (yes we think about these things too, I know it sounds a little crazy!).

So, I’d like to  persuade you to stop looking out the window in disbelief  about snow again and  find a way to test my white therory. Ask other people what they think, go the Domes, or just get your nose ready for the spring when ever it does show up !  Better yet, Come in for the smell of it!         Check out our website  and see if you can find the elegant all white arrangements  http://www.bouquetsonwater.com

Have a bloomin’ great day and many blessings,

                                                                             Carol
